Since the first meeting in 1987, organised in Saint-Denis by Professor Bernard Martel, the FRPM series has brought together researchers working on the fire safety of polymeric materials for more than four decades.

A community-driven history
Unlike many scientific conferences, FRPM has grown as a community initiative rather than through a formal scientific society. Part of its history therefore survives only in the memories and personal archives of participants.
